Foo Fighters confirmed the April 24 release of their 12th studio album, Your Favorite Toy, via Roswell Records/RCA Records. Out today is the title track from the 10-song collection.
Co-produced by Foo Fighters and Oliver Roman, Your Favorite Toy marks the band’s first album to feature new drummer Ilan Rubin. The former Nine Inch Nails drummer replaced Josh Freese, who joined the band after the untimely death of Taylor Hawkins in 2022. Freese never appeared on a Foo Fighters studio album during his tenure.
Foo Fighters previously released the Your Favorite Toy track “Asking For A Friend” last October. Frontman Dave Grohl's vocals are heavily distorted on “Your Favorite Toy.” The hard-hitting track is an infectious number with a four-on-the-floor beat from Rubin.
“‘Your Favorite Toy’ really was the key that unlocked the tone and energetic direction of the new album,” Dave Grohl stated. “We stumbled upon it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day it took shape I knew that we had to follow its lead. It was the fuse to the powder keg of songs we wound up recording for this record. It feels new.”
