Foo Fighters Dedicate Song To Absent Pat Smear At 1st Show Of 2026

Foo Fighters staged their first concert of 2026 and first ever show in León, Mexico on Saturday as part of the Feria Estatal de León (León State Fair). The play at Velaria de la Feria saw the renowned rockers sans longtime guitarist Pat Smear, who recently broke his foot. FF dedicated their hit “My Hero” to Pat in Mexico.

Frontman Dave Grohl and company — including fill-in guitarist Jason Falkner — commenced in León with “All My Life.” Staples such as “Times Like These” and “The Pretender” followed.

Grohl celebrates his 57th birthday on Wednesday, when FF will also host a food drive benefit concert in Los Angeles. Fans in León showered Dave with early birthday wishes by singing “Happy Birthday To You” around “These Days.”

Foo Fighters then offered the aforementioned “My Hero,” dedicated to Pat Smear. Pat goes back with Dave to the Nirvana days when the former was a touring guitarist. He became a member of Foo Fighters shortly after Grohl founded the band in 1995 and save for a hiatus between 1997 and 2005, has been a member ever since.

Additional favorites performed in León included “Learn To Fly,” “Monkey Wrench” and main set closer “Best Of You.” The band also performed the recently revised “Hey, Johnny Park!” Foo Fighters returned to encore with “Exhausted” followed by traditional show closer, “Everlong.”
