Foo Fighters return with But Here We Are, their first album since the tragic death of drummer Taylor Hawkins, on June 2 through Roswell Records/RCA Records. The band previewed the 10-song collection by releasing its lead single and opening track, “Rescued.”
The 11th Foo Fighters album and beginning of the next chapter in the band’s career was produced with longtime collaborator Greg Kurstin. “Sonically channelling the naiveté of Foo Fighters’ 1995 debut, informed by decades of maturity and depth, But Here We Are is the sound of brothers finding refuge in the music that brought them together in the first place 28 years ago, a process that was as therapeutic as it was about a continuation of life,” noted press materials announcing the forthcoming LP.

Foo Fighters have yet to reveal who plays drums on But Here We Are, an album described in a statement on the band’s website as “a brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year” and one that “is a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family.” Lead single “Rescued” is a hard-hitting affair that seemingly references the turbulent period Dave Grohl and his bandmates went through.
Stream “Rescued,” which is “the first of 10 songs that run the emotional gamut from rage and sorrow to serenity and acceptance, and myriad points in between,” below:
