Tomorrow, will issue a new EP entitled Love & Thirst. Today, JamBase is pleased to exclusively premiere a single from the EP, “Highs.”

The Colorado-based outfit composed of guitarist Andrew McConathy, banjo/pedal steel player Cody Russell, guitarist Rob Eaton Jr., bassist Jon McCartan and drummer Alex Johnson, the quintet recruited several guests for the EP, including Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth. The group also enlisted multi-Grammy winner Rob Eaton Sr. to produce the release recorded at Immersive Studios in Boulder and Silo Sound Studios in Denver. The younger Eaton shared with JamBase a bit of background on the song “Highs”:

Initially I was least excited about tracking “Highs” because it was the song that needed the most work to become “album ready.” Fortunately, we had a set of master ears in the studio — my father, Rob Eaton Sr. (of Dark Star Orchestra), who has worked on a number of hit records over the years. My father and I worked seamlessly on what used to be a solo section to create what is now a catchy calypso section. All the guitar parts and rhythm orchestration, in addition to the vocal harmonies backing up Andrew, were all done in hour or two and written that day by my dad and I. It was a very rewarding experience, and the song turned out to be one of the standouts on the EP.
