Eggy & Taper’s Choice Cover Nirvana In Seattle

Eggy‘s West Coast run with Taper’s Choice wrapped up in Seattle on Saturday. Both bands came together to end the show with a fitting cover from Seattle legends Nirvana.

Eggy kicked off their set with the staple “One Stop Shop.” The band also broke out a pair of covers in Seattle, beginning with Donovan’s “Barabajagal” for the first time in 99 shows. Eggy fit “The Windup” (115 show gap), by renowned pianist Keith Jarrett, between “Reflections” and the conclusion of “Hux (Wit’ It).”

The set came to a close with a dust off of Eggy original “Portable Air Scrubber” (101 show gap), ahead of the Nirvana cover encore with Taper’s Choice.

Taper’s Choice is bassist Alex Bleeker (Real Estate), drummer Chris Tomson (Vampire Weekend), keyboardist Zach Tenorio and new guitarist CJ Tywoniak, following Dave Harrington’s departure.

The quartet loaded onto the stage with Eggy — guitarist Jake Brownstein, drummer Alex Bailey, bassist Mike Goodman and keyboardist Dani Battat — during the latter’s encore to perform Nirvana’s “In Bloom,” off the Seattle-born band’s iconic 1991 album Nevermind.

“In Bloom” saw Eggy drummer Alex Bailey coming out from behind the kit to front the collab alongside Alex Bleeker on acoustic guitar. Chris Tomson manned Bailey’s drums for the location-appropriate Nirvana cover.
