After its debut outing last year, Earl Scruggs Music Festival is back this September boasting a 2023 lineup headlined by Emmylou Harris, Greensky Bluegrass, The Infamous Stringdusters and Del McCoury Band. The three-day event will once again take place at Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, North Carolina September 1 – 3.
The musical festival takes its name from and honors the life and legacy of Earl Scruggs, who helped bring bluegrass to the masses over the course of his career. Scruggs was born in 1926 and died in 2012. Earl Scruggs Music Festival is presented by a partnership of independent radio station WNCW 88.7 and the nearby Earl Scruggs Center.
Jerry Douglas has been tapped to host and serve as the event’s artist-at-large. Douglas will also perform with The Earls of Leicester and The Jerry Douglas Band during the festival. Other acts set to play the 2023 Earl Scruggs Music Festival include Tony Trischka, Della Mae, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Jake Blount and many other bluegrass-focused artists from multiple generations.
