Tedeschi Trucks Band wrapped a six-show residency at the Beacon Theatre in New York City Saturday night with another guest-filled two set performance. Regular Wheels Of Soul collaborator Doyle Bramhall II joined the band as did the duo that makes up The London Souls.
“Anyday” opened the show with TTB delivering the Derek & The Dominoes tune at the start of a first set that also saw takes on Taj Mahal’s “Leavin’ Trunk” and a rendition of their “I Want More” that featured a jam on The Allman Brothers Band’s “Les Brers In A Minor.” A lengthy “Idle Wind” drew the first set to a close.
The second set opened with “Calling Out To You” and “Just As Strange” before the band offered up an arrangement of The Beatles guitarist George Harrison’s solo tune “Wah-Wah.” The Beatles “I’ve Got A Feeling” and “Eleanor Rigby” were also covered in the second set, as was Jimmy Reed’s “Honest I Do” with Bramhall joining in on harmonica. The southpaw also played guitar along with The London Souls’ guitarist Tash Neal and drummer Chris St. Hilaire for Sly & The Family Stone’s “Sing a Simple Song” and “I Want to Take You Higher” to close out the set.
The encore Saturday featured “Anyhow” and The Beatles’ “With A Little Help From My Friends,” drawing the residency to a lively conclusion. Watch audience-shot highlights from last night’s Beacon finale below:
