Doom Flamingo announced they will initiate an “indefinite break” in 2025. The Charleston, South Carolina-based band will play three shows at the end of the month before starting the hiatus.

Doom Flamingo will finish out 2024 with a show at The Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina on December 27. The group will then ring in the New Year in their hometown with shows at The Charleston Pour House on December 30 and New Year’s Eve on December 31.

Bassist Ryan Stasik of Umphrey’s McGee co-founded Doom Flamingo in 2018. A five-piece configuration of Doom Flamingo – vocalist Kanika Moore, drummer Sean Bing, guitarist Thomas Kenney, keyboardist Ross Bogan and bassist Tim Khayat – will perform the upcoming shows. Saxophonist Mike Quinn will not appear with the band.

A note addressing the group’s future shared by Doom Flamingo, who performed in Richmond on Saturday, follows:

Doom family,

We would like let you know that following our next shows in Richmond, Asheville, and Charleston we are taking an indefinite break.

We want to collectively extend our deepest gratitude to the fans and community that have supported us while we take some time to focus on ourselves. You are the ones that make it all happen for us and we appreciate you so much. We will be finishing out the rest of the year as a five piece without our saxophonist Mike Quinn.

While we say this with heavy hearts, our shows recently have felt like some of our best and we are excited to leave it all on the stage for you for these last few. Sometimes the best way to move forward is to take a step back.

Love,
Doom

Additionally, lead singer Kanika Moore posted a note regarding Doom Flamingo’s hiatus. Read Moore’s message here:

“Taking time off from [Doom Flamingo] to regroup later in hopes to have more for you next year. New Year’s Eve [at The Charleston Pour House] and Asheville shows are the last ones. Only a handful left. In the suggestive words of Ross Bogan, sometimes in order to take a step forward, you must take a step back. Staying steady in my craft is a must and I need Moore music. While I slow my dance with Doom, my feet will continue to move.”
