The Disco Biscuits conducted a three-night run at Pine Creek Lodge in Livingston, Montana this past weekend. The jamtronica quartet embarked on a 34-minute “Voices Insane” during their concert on Saturday.
The Montana run, which began with a concert in Rexford on July 6, marked the Philadelphia-born band’s debut in Big Sky Country and also launched their first tour through the Western U.S. and West Coast in 14 years. Along with the massive “Voices Insane” on Saturday, highlights from the band’s three-night stint at Pine Creek Lodge included a bust out of the classic “Nughuffer,” last played on April 1, 2022 for a total gap of 77 shows. Sunday saw the band breaking out “Resurrection” for the first time since early this year.

It was Saturday, however, that saw tDB authoring the longest “Voices Insane” in the band’s history at 34 minutes. The July 8 concert got underway with “Above The Waves” followed by the first “Hope” since October 3, 2022 for a span of 51 shows. Bisco then segued through “Times Square,” an inverted 17.5-minute “Twisted In The Road,” “Helicopters” and “Pilin’ It High” to wrap the first frame.
The seamless second set got underway with a 15-minute exploration of “Caterpillar” which gave way to the vintage “Voices Insane,” debuted in 1998. The band expired a 12-minute intro jam to the song before moving to the composed sections and lyrics. The rest of the sprawling version saw some well-constructed interplay between guitarist Jon “The Barber” Gutwillig and keyboardist Aron Magner ahead of a peak and smooth segue into Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love.”
The quartet then moved through newer tunes “Freeze” and “The Deal” before bookending the set with a callback to “Caterpillar.” Bisco returned to encore with another classic, “Morph Dusseldorf.”
“When we get on stage, we never know what’s going to happen, but we hope that through the process of intense and open listening we will arrive in the place that we did on 7/8/23, where the band is reacting to each other in perfect harmony and unity,” bassist Marc Brownstein said of the band’s memorable performance on Saturday.
