The Disco Biscuits Opt For ‘Plan B’ For 1st Time Since 2020 At Cleveland Show

The Disco Biscuits launched their winter tour last night with a concert at House Of Blues Cleveland. A surprise came towards the end of Wednesday’s first set when Bisco dusted off oldie “Plan B” for the first time in over 100 shows.

The livetronica quartet got their 2023 underway after an opening set from Karina Rykman. Bisco delivered a standalone “Mulberry’s Dream” to start and then strung together a run of “Strobelights And Martinis,” “Tourists (Rocket Ship)” and “Rainbow Song.” The former hadn’t been played since last March while the latter returned to action after 16 months on the shelf. Yet the four-piece dug even deeper into their massive catalog with the ensuing “Plan B.” The song hadn’t been performed since October 24, 2020 — a span of 103 shows.

Last night’s high-energy “Plan B” was left unfinished as the Disco Biscuits transitioned into “Once The Fiddler Paid,” which like “Plan B” was debuted in 1998. Guitarist Jon Gutwillig sang “Plan B” and strung together powerful riffs to fuel the jam before the band wrapped the set with a nicely extended “Spraypaint.”

The recently debuted “Why We Dance” kicked off a seamless second set and bled into an adventurous “King Of The World.” Wednesday’s “King Of The World” was the longest song of the night and saw the band explore multiple spaces ahead of a move into “We Like To Party.” Next up was an inverted “Twisted In The Road” that gave way to Bisco’s eighth performance of “Shocked!” The four-piece built “Shocked!” to a massive peak and then worked through a set-closing “Munchkin Invasion.”

The Disco Biscuits punctuated the night with a “Story Of The World” encore. Buffalo’s Town Ballroom hosts the band tonight. A livestream is available via couchtour.tv.
