The Disco Biscuits held their New Year’s three-night finale at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago on Saturday. The trance-fusion act who has conducted NYE concerts in New York City in the past brought “Times Square” to Chicago to ring in 2023.

Bisco fittingly kicked off the show with a debut cover of The Allan Parsons Project’s song “Sirius,” which became the iconic starting lineup number for the Chicago Bulls, complete with band intros. Bassist Marc Brownstein, guitarist Jon Gutwillig, keyboardist Aron Magner and drummer Allen Aucoin then continued with “Rock Candy.”

The quartet kept the debuts flowing with a new Magner original called “Spaga’s Last Stand.” A bust out of “Magellan” — last time played on November 27, 2021 for a total gap of 54 shows, as per Phantasy Tour — came next before “Digital Buddha” concluded the first set.

The Disco Biscuits would go fully segued for the second set beginning with “Uber Glue.” The quartet then flowed through “Freeze,” “Mr. Don” and “M1.” An inverted version of “Little Shimmy In A Conga Line” followed before the band tied up loose ends on “Mr. Don” to close the second set.

The freshly unveiled “Why We Dance” launched the third frame. An adaptation of a “Munchin Invasion” > “Tricycle” jam from February 4, 2016 with lyrics by Joey Friedman, “Times Square,” brought the famed NYC NYE ball drop locale to Chicago. The song fittingly saw the countdown and balloon drop before the quartet headed into the vintage “Helicopters,” which contained “Happy New Year” lyrics.

The aforementioned “Triclyle” then segued into an inverted “42.” Bisco brought the third set to a close with “Basis For A Day.” “Space Train” and a “Helicopters” reprise capped off the encore.
