The Disco Biscuits Premiere New Original ‘The Deal’ In Chicago

The Disco Biscuits are holding court at The Riviera Theatre for a three-night New Year’s Eve Run, which continued last night with a show featuring the debut of new original “The Deal.” Friday’s second show of the run also included a pair of bust outs and plenty of expansive jams.

Just the second “Kitchen Mitts” of 2022 kicked off the night before an “On Time” featuring “Tourists (Rocket Ship)” within followed. A standalone version of the beloved “House Dog Party Favor” came next before the livetronica quartet capped the frame with a “Twisted In The Road” that enveloped an unfinished cover of Pink Floyd’s “Run Like Hell.”

The Disco Biscuits delivered a seamless second set last night in Chicago. “Mindless Dribble” led into “Another Plan Of Attack” to open the frame. The middle of “Crickets” emerged out of “Another Plan Of Attack” and bled into the first “Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy” since December 28, 2018 — a span of 149 shows. From there tDB unveiled “The Deal” sung by guitarist Jon Gutwillig. The premiere covered plenty of ground over +15-minutes and eventually gave way to “Orch Theme,” which was jammed into the end of “Another Plan Of Attack” to close the set. Bisco concluded the night with an encore featuring “Frog Legs” and the conclusion of “Run Like Hell.”

“The Deal” is the seventh song debuted from the Disco Biscuits’ forthcoming, yet-to-be named space-themed rock opera. “Tourists (Rocket Ship),” “Twisted In The Road,” “Another Plan Of Attack,” “Who’s In Charge,” “Shocked!,” “The Wormhole” and “To Be Continued” each are also part of the rock opera. All seven songs have been performed over the first two nights of tDB’s New Year’s Run. An official recording of “The Deal” and the rest of last night’s concert can be heard via nugs.net.
