The Disco Biscuits guitarist Jon Gutwillig joined Spafford at Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia on Saturday. Barber teamed with Spaff on their song “Ain’t That Wrong” in the second set after his bandmate keyboardist Aron Magner joined the band in Ardmore, Pennsylvania on Friday.

Spafford — guitarist Brian Moss, bassist Jordan Fairless, drummer Nick Tkachyk and keyboardist Cory Schechtman — launched the first set with a nearly 25-minute “Ginger Stardust” which flowed into an 18-minute “All In.” “Leave The Light On” then encompassed “Electric Taco Stand” to wrap the first set.

The band launched the four-song second set with another 19-minute excursion, this time on “Giants In The Light,” which flowed into “The Waltz.” Gutwillig then emerged for “Ain’t That Wrong.” Moss reeled off some rhythm on the intro which saw Barber tearing it up right out of the gate. The Bisco guitarist also felt right at home on the ensuing four on the floor, trance-tinged jam adding some more fretboard fireworks along with Moss.

Spaff concluded the second set with “Weasel.” The band returned for a two-song encore consisting of a pair of the songs off their 2022 album Simple Mysteries with “The Nest” and the title track.
