Spafford staged a concert at Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, just outside Philadelphia on Friday night. Nearby resident and The Disco Biscuits keyboardist Aron Magner joined the band for the final song of Friday’s first set.
Spafford guitarist Brian Moss was in the midst of introducing the “local legend” when Magner walked onstage and interrupted his speech.
“I called him the other day and I was like, ‘Hey man, you wanna come out and play a song with us?’,” Moss said as the guest keyboardist emerged.
Spafford and Magner then dropped into “In The Eyes Of Thieves.” The collab started with Magner accompanying Cory Schectman – who just joined Spafford after the departure of keyboardist Andrew “Red” Johnson – as the two pulled double duty on the many keyboards on hand. Magner was later left alone inside the keyboard rig as Schectman stepped out to add saxophone to the latter part of the song.
