The Disco Biscuits brought their Why We Dance Tour 2024 to Stage AE in Pittsburgh on Saturday along with supergroup Octave Cat featuring members of Lotus, Dopapod and more. Bisco welcomed Dopapod/Octave Cat keyboardist Eli Winderman for “We Like To Party” to cap the concert.
The Disco Biscuits — bassist Marc Brownstein, guitarist Jon Gutwillig, keyboardist Aron Magner and drummer Allen Aucoin — launched the concert with the 2023 debut of “7-11.” The song made its first appearance in 50 shows, as per Phantasy Tour.

Although “7-11” clocked in at nearly 34 minutes and contained elements of Shaggy’s “It Wasn’t Me,” the quartet left the tune debuted in 2000 unfinished and headed into “The Wormhole.” The song appears on the first installment of the band’s upcoming “space opera” Revolution in Motion, set to arrive in full on March 29 — the band’s first studio album since 2011. Bisco fit LCD Soundsystem’s “Tribulations” within new song “No Recollection” to wrap the first frame.
Set two got underway with a pair of old-school tDB numbers, “Shelby Rose” and “Munchkin Invasion.” The quartet then took two newish songs, “M1” and “The Deal,” for a 20-minute rides. Next, The Biscuits delivered the Tractorbeam version of “M1,” featuring samples of “Boom” (Tiesto with Gucci Mane and Sevenn) and “Ranjani” (Varijashree Venugopal).
A song from the The Disco Biscuits side project Conspirator, “Orch Theme,” followed before the band bookended the second set with “Shelby Rose.” The quartet returned for the encore and welcomed Dopapod/Octave Cat keyboardist Eli Winderman for “We Like To Party.” Winderman joined Magner in keys world for a raging rendition of the song off tDB’s last studio album, 2011’s Otherwise Law Abiding Citizens.
