Dirty Projectors continue the rollout of five EPs in 2020 with today’s release of Earth Crisis via Domino Records. The five-song EP, which comes accompanied by an animated short film of the same name, showcases vocalist Kristin Slipp.
Earth Crisis is the penultimate EP of the year for Dirty Projectors. The band will release the 5EP anthology containing all 20 songs featured on the five EPs digitally and physically through Domino on November 20. Each EP spotlights a different member with Maia Friedman fronting Windows Open, percussionist Felicia Douglass starring on Flight Tower and DP mastermind Dave Longstreth honoring João Gilberto homage with Super João.

Slipp and Longstreth penned lyrics together for the material on Earth Crisis using music Dave recorded during sessions that followed the release of 2007’s Rise Above as a base. “To me it felt like ecological processes: recycling, making new life from old,” Longstreth said.
Dirty Projectors tapped longtime collaborator Isaiah Saxon of Encyclopedia Pictura to create a visual for music from the EP. Watch the Earth Crisis animated short film, which premiered via Adult Swim:
