Del McCoury Band Releases New Single ‘You Could Be Me’

Bluegrass icon Del McCoury may be 78, but he’s still continuing to tour and unveil new music. His latest release comes today as the Del McCoury Band has issued a brand new track titled “You Could Be Me.”

Del discussed why he decided to record the song written by Tim Crouch, Edgar Sanders, Kenneth Mcafee and Dennis Crouch in a statement, “I don’t have a formula for choosing songs, I just know what I like. I remember this one had an interesting melody but it was the lyrics that really stood out to me. There’s a lot of truth in this song. We all want to talk about our problems, but we don’t know what the next guy is going through. This song deals with that in a fun way — it basically says, if you think you have it bad, well you could be me. And I promise you my problems are a lot worse.”

McCoury continues to put out singles as they are finished rather than having fans wait for a full album. A press release trumpeting the release of “You Could Be Me” mentions “this, and other tracks will all eventually make their way to the next album but this gives listeners a peek into what the band is doing.” Listen to “You Could Be Me” on Spotify:

Del returns to the road early next month for a series of dates as he gears up for the 10th annual DelFest in Cumberland, Maryland over Memorial Day Weekend.
