Last night, Def Leppard launched a 12-show residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. The setlist featured several surprises, including live debuts of an original and cover along with the return of two songs the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame band hadn’t performed in years.
Def Leppard emerged on a brand new stage set and lit into their first-ever public performance of “Rejoice,” a single they released two weeks ago. The next surprise came a few songs later when the band rolled out their take on Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus,” which they had covered for a 2018 Spotify Singles set.
“Personal Jesus” wasn’t the only cover to make the setlist, as Def Leppard dusted off their version of “Rock On” for the first time since 2019 towards the middle of the show. The Brits debuted the David Essex cover live in 2005 before issuing the studio version as a digital single the following year.
A huge bust out followed when Def Leppard broke out “White Lightning.” The song from 1992’s Adrenalize, which was dedicated to the memory of late guitarist Steve Clark, hadn’t been played live by Def Leppard since 1993.
The rest of the 19-song show was loaded with hits, including “Animal,” “Rocket,” “Foolin’,” “Rock Of Ages” and “Photograph.” Def Leppard punctuated the night with “Pour Some Sugar On Me.”
