Dean Ween & Les Claypool Swap Sit-Ins At Primus Australian Tour Closer In Melbourne

On Sunday night Primus ended an Australian Tour at Palais Theatre in Melbourne. The Dean Ween Group opened each night of the run and the leaders of both bands finally swapped collaborations at the finale.
Guitarist Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo and Primus bassist/vocalist Les Claypool have a long friendship and are old fishing buddies. The first collaboration of the night in Melbourne took place during The Dean Ween Group’s set. Claypool emerged to join the quartet for “The Mollusk,” the title track off Ween’s 1997 studio album, and “The Rift.” Later in the evening, Deaner emerged for “Southbound Pachyderm,” which Primus played as their lone encore.
