Every year, Dead & Company brings visibility to a number of charities through Participation Row, a space at each tour stop where fans can interact with charities to earn special prizes and get involved. In the past few years, the Grateful Dead spin-off has also teamed with non-profit Positive Legacy to produce a series of action days throughout the summer. This year, the band has announced three action days, which will occur in New York City, Atlanta and Boulder, Colorado.
Each action day encourages fans to volunteer ahead of one of Dead and Company’s shows. On June 22, the band will host a New York City action day that guides volunteers through a clean-up of Flushing Bay Promenade park ahead of their show at Citi Field the following night. Positive Legacy has provided a $3,000 dollar grant to the City Parks Foundation to support the outing.

On June 29, Positive Legacy has teamed with the Atlanta Community Food Bank to host the second action day at a Beltline, West End park. In addition to a musical performance from Cuban drum group Michellito Herrera y Afro Cuba, volunteers will assist in sorting and passing out boxes of food and help clean up the area.
For the final action day on July 6, Positive Legacy and Conscious Alliance will host an event where volunteers prepare meals at the Boulder Food Bank, which will be donated to families in need at Pine Ridge Reservation. Over the course of three hours, 40 volunteers will make 2,000 meals of nutritious dried soup ahead of the two-night run at Boulder’s Folsom Field.
