Tonight, Dead & Company featuring Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, as well as John Mayer, Jeff Chimenti and Oteil Burbridge, will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live as part of the talk show’s summer concert series. According to a report, the band has revealed plans to deliver a pro-marijuana legalization message during their performance in the parking lot of the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Times reports the band has helped mobilize over 300 marijuana legalization supporters to attend tonight’s special outdoor concert. Organizations such as the California Cannabis Industry Association and Buds & Roses are encouraging their members to attend the taping while wearing supportive clothing, carrying pro-legalization signs and even dressing up in costumes of smokable items.

“The folks it would be hitting on that broadcast would be outside our normal sphere of influence,” Weir told the Times. “We’re about music, but we’re about other stuff as well, and we always have been. We need to make our feelings on the subject as apparent as we can.”

Head here for more on the efforts to spread the pro-marijuana legalization message and tune into ABC tonight, Wednesday, May 10 at 11:35 p.m. ET/10:35 p.m. CT to watch Dead & Company on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
