Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi & More To Go Dead Ahead At New Destination Event In Mexico

Sturgill Simpson, Margo Price, Goose’s Rick Mitarotonda, Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Chimenti, Don Was and Jay Lane are among others headed to Mexico.

The inaugural Dead Ahead Festival Caribbean concert vacation is coming to Moon Palace Resort in Riviera Cancún, Mexico on January 12-15, 2024 presented by Playa Luna. The four-day event will celebrate the legacy of the Grateful Dead boasting a lineup that includes Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi and many others.

Two nights of curated “Dead Ahead” collaborations will feature Weir, Hart, bassist Oteil Burbridge, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, bassist Don Was and drummer Jay Lane performing in various configurations with Trucks, Tedeschi, Goose guitarist Rick Mitarotonda, vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Margo Price and very special guest Sturgill Simpson. One night of the event will be headlined by Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros with the remaining night to feature tributes to the Jerry Garcia Band performed by Oteil & Friends and Lettuce.

Other acts set to play the new all-inclusive event include Orebolo, LP Giobbi, Sierra Hull, Brittney Spencer and Jaime Wyatt. Plus, Mickey Hart will present a “late night rhythmic experience” dubbed “Mickey Hart’s Noche de Ondas.” Stay tuned for a full itinerary of pool parties, beach stage performances and late-night shows.

Dead Ahead Festival 2024 all-inclusive packages go on sale to the general public this Friday, September 15 at 1 p.m. ET. Those who attended past Playa Luna events including Dead & Company’s Playing In The Sand can take part in a special presale on Thursday, September 14 at 1 p.m. ET.
