Dawes announced their ninth studio album, Oh Brother, will be released on October 11. The Los Angeles rockers will support the LP, which features lead single “House Parties,” with Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 tour dates across the U.S.

The follow-up to 2022’s Misadventures of Doomscroller rings in a new era for Dawes co-founders and brothers Taylor Goldsmith and Griffin Goldsmith. Taylor and Griffin have soldiered on as Dawes with touring guitarist Trevor Menear after bassist Wylie Gelber and keyboardist Lee Pardini left the band under amicable terms. Fittingly, the siblings co-produced Oh Brother alongside longtime friend Mike Viola.

The Goldsmiths started writing and recording the nine songs featured on Oh Brother with just Taylor on guitar and vocals and Griffin on drums. Dawes later added contributions from Menear and other studio instrumentation.

“All you can really do is find out what are the most essential, truest, and idiosyncratic parts of yourself,” explained Taylor Goldsmith. “And I like the fact that Griffin and I are kind of clinging to each other and holding on to each other more than we ever have. We’re grateful for each other in a new way. But we’ve also been through a lot.

“It feels like we’re reborn in a way, and I mean that with so, so much love and gratitude to everyone we’ve ever played with before! This is what it means to be a lifer, to have iterations,” Taylor added. “It means having phases and chapters, and this is a very clear delineation as to the beginning of a new one. So Oh Brother feels like a ninth record, but it also feels like a first record.”

Dawes’ Oh Brother Tour begins on November 7 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The band will hit cities across the East Coast and Midwest through November 23 and then embarks on a leg December 6 – 15 featuring stops in California and Texas. An April 2025 cross-country run that includes shows in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Missouri, Colorado, Montana, Washington and Oregon has also been announced.

A presale is underway now with HOUSEPARTIES as the code. General on-sales follow starting on Friday, July 19 at 10 a.m. local time.

“House Parties” arrived today along with a fun video. The visual for a song referencing Joni Mitchell, Disney Land, Donkey Kong, FAO Schwartz and many other disparate locations, people and things includes footage submitted by fans.

“A nostalgic song,” said Taylor Goldsmith of the new Dawes single. “A song about how true cultural experiences aren’t in the tourist traps but within human connections among specific communities. It’s a goofy lyric but the sentiment is not. We can all relate to feeling truly alive at a dive bar or a stranger’s home, getting access into a universe we didn’t even know existed…Whether across the planet or just one town over.”
