After a surprise performance of the song opening last night’s Grammy Awards, Dawes have shared a recording of Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.” Proceeds from sales of the track will be donated to Musicares’ Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts.
Dawes co-founders – brothers Taylor Goldsmith and Griffin Goldsmith – were among the thousands impacted by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. The Eaton fire destroyed Taylor’s home studio and damaged the home he shares with his wife Mandy Moore. Griffin, who is expecting a child soon, lost his entire home and recording studio storing an array of instruments.

The Goldsmith brothers led an unannounced all-star performance of “I Love L.A.” at last night’s 67th Grammy Awards. The pair was accompanied by Brad Paisley, Brittany Howard, John Legend, Sheryl Crow and St. Vincent for the surprise show-opening collaboration.
Dawes posted a note regarding their recent experiences:
“Recorded this just a few days ago to make sure we could all continue to relive this moment together. Proceeds going to Musicares.org in support of those affected by the LA Fires.
“What a wild few days it’s been. Can’t wait to share some thoughts once I catch my breath. I love you all so much. Thanks for showing the love and support the way you always do. And for anyone new here – welcome to the family. It’s pretty tight knit. Hope you all like the new track.”
“I Love L.A.” is available on all major streaming platforms. Stream below.
