John C. Reilly, Mike Campbell, Eric Krasno & More Join Dawes For ‘Christmas In L.A.’ Concert

Dawes hosted their second annual star-studded “Christmas In L.A.” concert on Saturday (December 7) at The Bellwether. John C. Reilly, Mike Campbell, Eric Krasno and Theo Katzman were among Dawes’ guests at the holiday-themed hometown show.

The band led by siblings Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith went it alone to start the evening with a segment focused on songs from their 2024 studio album, Oh Brother, including “Front Row Seat,” “Mister Los Angeles” and “House Parties.” L.A.-based musician Jonny Fritz was the first special guest as he led Dawes through his own “Trash Day” and “Middle Brother” from Taylor’s short-lived supergroup of the same name with Deer Tick’s John McCauley and Matt Vasquez of Delta Spirit.

After a performance of “Raise The Dead,” Dawes brought out Eric Krasno for All Your Favorite Bands standout “Somewhere Along The Way” and a rousing cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Sugaree.” The group then performed the tour debut of “If You Let Me Be Your Anchor” and offered the live premiere of their new holiday song, “Christmas Tree in the Window,” sans guests.

The show rolled on with Winnetka Bowling League frontman Matthew Koma guiding Dawes through his band’s “Life Is Life.” Next, John C. Reilly embodied Dewey Cox from his 2007 film Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story for a performance of “(For Christmas) The People Want Cox.” Vulfpeck’s Theo Katzman emerged a few songs later to perform “Roll With The Punches” and “Plain Jane Heroin” with Dawes.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell was the final guest of the concert. Campbell shined on the Petty classic “You Wreck Me,” which also featured Theo Katzman. Dawes then wrapped the show with the fan-favorite “All Your Favorite Bands.”
