Dawes gifted fans with a new, original holiday single, “Christmas Tree in the Window,” out through Dead Ringers via Secretly Canadian Distribution. The festive track arrives on the heels of the band’s ninth studio album, Oh Brother.

Dawes — led by brothers guitarist/singer-songwriter Taylor Goldsmith and drummer Griffin Goldsmith — released Oh Brother on October 11. The album saw the siblings reflecting on their brotherly bond as the only remaining founding members of Dawes.

“…I like the fact that Griffin and I are kind of clinging to each other and holding on to each other more than we ever have,” Taylor said of his relationship with his Griffin upon announcing Oh Brother. “We’re grateful for each other in a new way. But we’ve also been through a lot.”

Family is a complex issue to navigate during the holiday season. But Taylor noted that “Christmas Tree in the Window” focuses on the little things that make the season worthwhile.

“Christmas Tree in the Window” is “a song about the spirit of Christmas making someone decide to be a better person,” Taylor said. “It’s been easy to get cynical about the holiday season as I’ve gotten older, but there are still moments when a song, a decoration, or a special moment can bring all the magic back. This song is obviously a ridiculous example of that feeling, but hopefully still an experience we can all relate to at its core.”
