On May 17 and 18, famed filmmaker David Lynch was scheduled to bring his ongoing charity event, Festival of Disruption, to New York City. Now, organizers have announced that the weekend’s two upcoming concerts at Brooklyn Steel have been canceled “due to circumstances beyond our control.”

On May 17, Wye Oak, the Messthetics and Mercury Rev were scheduled to perform, while Garbage and Phoebe Bridgers were tapped for the May 18 show alongside a DJ set from LCD Soundsystem‘s Nancy Whang. While the musical leg of the event has been called off, the Festival of Disruption will still host its screening on Mulholland Drive and discussion with Lynch and actor Justin Theroux at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on May 18.

Three-event pass holders will receive a refund for the price of the two concerts plus fees, with the ticket to the screening still valid. In addition, refunds are available via point of purchase. Any proceeds from the festival will benefit David Lynch Foundation‘s initiative to help those suffering from PTSD with transcendental meditation.

As noted on the festival’s website:

We sincerely appreciate the kind and generous artists who offered to donate their time and talent. We also thank you all for buying tickets and for your enthusiasm in support of the charitable mission. All ticket buyers will be entered into a lottery to win a host of items autographed by David Lynch, including an Eraserhead movie poster, the vinyl LP of the soundtrack from Twin Peaks: The Return and his book Catching the Big Fish.
