Dave Matthews Band Enters Studio To Complete New Album
Check out photos from sessions for the long-awaited follow-up to 2018's 'Come Tomorrow'
While Dave Matthews Band completed their summer tour with guest-filled concerts at Hollywood Bowl on Monday and Tuesday, the members of the group had one more task to fulfill before heading home. Matthews and his bandmates headed into a studio in Los Angeles on Wednesday to put what Rashawn Ross described as the “finishing touches” on a new album.
Dave Matthews recently discussed the long-awaited follow-up to 2018’s Come Tomorrow with SiriusXM’s Ari Fink for an interview that aired on Dave Matthews Band Radio in June. “I think we have a great record,” Dave told Ari about the 10th DMB studio album. “I was like, we finished, for now, the recording and then we were mixing and my friend, Rob Evans, who’s been really the force behind getting it done and been a great, you know, it wouldn’t have happened without him and it’s been fun to work with him. And so essentially we have to just put it in the bag and send it out into the world.”
Dave Matthews Shares Update On New Album (July 2022)
Apparently the septet wasn’t done with the LP yet despite what Matthews said earlier this summer. Both Rashawn Ross and saxophonist Jeff Coffin shared photos from Wednesday’s studio session on Instagram. Each member of DMB besides the rhythm section appear in the photos. “After crushing the #hollywoodbowl on Monday and Tuesday night… last night we put on the finishing touches in the studio in LA,” Ross wrote as part of the caption for his Instagram post. Coffin noted he was back home in Nashville this morning in his IG post.
Dave Matthews Band has debuted a number of songs over the past few years. “Walk Around The Moon,” “The Only Thing” and “Madman’s Eyes” were each premiered live in 2021 and saw action frequently this summer. Matthews also unveiled “The Ocean And The Butterfly” in 2020 and “Something To Tell My Baby” back in February.
