Watch Dave Matthews Band Serve Up Extended ‘Ants Marching’ At 2019 Concert In Amsterdam

Dave Matthews Band shared video of “Ants Marching” from their March 15, 2019 concert at AFAS Live in Amsterdam. DMB is set to return to AFAS Live in Amsterdam on April 2 to launch their first European Tour since 2019.

“Ants Marching” is one of Dave Matthews Band’s oldest, most recognizable and most played songs. DMB debuted “Ants Marching” on October 22, 1991, as per DMBAlmanac, at Trax in Charlottesville, Virginia where the band had played its first show just weeks earlier.

The “Ants” debut closed a set, and would continue to do so regularly throughout the decades. As DMBAlmanac noted, Dave Matthews once said, “This song is our anthem.”

It’s also been a great showcase for the world class players in the band over the years. Another trusty aspect of “Ants” is founding drummer Carter Beauford beginning it on the snare before adding a little flair around the kit.

The Amsterdam 2019 rendition got underway in the same fashion complete with some bass dive bombs from Stefan Lessard. It also featured a spirited exchange between trumpeter Rashawn Ross, saxophonist Jeff Coffin, guitarist Tim Reynolds and keyboardist Buddy Strong — who pushed each other musically throughout the extended solo section.
