Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and producer/keyboardist Greg Kurstin recruited Kurstin’s The Bird and the Bee partner, vocalist Inara George for their latest installment of their “The Hanukkah Sessions” video series. The trio along with Tenacious D on backing vocals covered 10cc’s “The Things We Do For Love.”
“Once referred to as the ‘biggest Jewish band to come out of Britain,’ 10cc’s MOTs Godley, Crème and Gouldman recorded a ton of hits — here’s one of the many: ‘The Things We Do For Love’ as sung by Inara George!” reads a description accompanying the video issued to honor the third night of Hanukkah. Released as a single in 1976, “The Things We Do For Love” was actually the first song 10cc put out following the departure of Kevin Godley and Lol Creme.
Inara George, the daughter of Little Feat founder Lowell George, formed The Bird And The Bee with Greg Kurstin in 2006. The pair;s latest effort was a 2020 Christmas album entitled Put Up The Lights. Dave Grohl plays drums on the LP’s “Little Drummer Boy.”
“The Things We Do For Love,” like each 2022 “The Hanukkah Sessions” video, was filmed at Largo in Los Angeles on December 5. Grohl and Kurstin pivoted to the live format this year after the 2020 and 2021 series featured covers recorded in the studio. A cover of songs by Jewish artists is released for each night of Hanukkah.
