In a collaboration that wasn’t hard to see coming, Old Crow Medicine Show joined Darius Rucker to perform “Wagon Wheel” at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Saturday night. The string band emerged towards the end of Rucker’s headlining performance after playing a support set for the Hootie & The Blowfish frontman earlier in the evening at the majestic Colorado venue.
Old Crow Medicine Show completed and recorded “Wagon Wheel” in 2004 using a chorus Bob Dylan drafted decades earlier. Rucker scored a massive hit in 2013 with his version of the song.
Darius Rucker’s Red Rocks concert was part of his 2026 Songs Of Summer Tour. The trek features rotating support, with Old Crow Medicine Show and Austin Williams tapped to open the Saturday evening show in Morrison, Colorado.
Rucker combined songs from his Hootie & The Blowfish days and solo albums with notable covers to form his 24-song setlist. Rucker closed the night with a stretch that included the Amy Winehouse-popularized “Valerie,” his unreleased single “I Believe In You,” Blackstreet’s “No Diggity,” the “Wagon Wheel” collaboration with Old Crow Medicine Show and Prince’s “Purple Rain.”
