Cover Alert | Jim James & Seth Avett Cover Blind Melon

We recently reported on photographer/film maker Danny Clinch’s Kickstarter project to fund his planned feature length documentary film about the late Blind Melon frontman Shannon Hoon. To help raise awareness about the project and drive funding -the Kickstarter campaign closes Tuesday, May 5 and is still nearly $40,000 shy of its $100,000 goal –Jim James and Seth Avett recorded separate covers of Blind Melon songs.
For James’ part, the My Morning Jacket frontman recorded a version of Blind Melon’s “Sleepyhouse” from their 1992 self-titled debut album. Avett -of The Avett Brothers -covered the track “St. Andrew’s Fall” off of Blind Melon’s 1995 sophomore album Soup accompanied by his solo acoustic guitar.
