The Disco Biscuits concluded this year’s Bisco Inferno run last night at the Ogden Theatre in Denver with help from Tom Hamilton who sat in on covers of Grateful Dead classics “One More Saturday Night” and “Shakedown Street.” Hamilton also guested along with Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart for a Grateful Dead tribute set as part of the Biscuits’ three-set show at Red Rocks in nearby Morrison on Friday night. As previously reported the four-night stand’s opening show on Wednesday night featured a debut cover of JJ Cale’s “After Midnight” and fan-shot footage of the cover has surfaced on YouTube.

While early fan reports from Colorado indicated tDB’s version of “After Midnight” was more in line with the Jerry Garcia Band cover of the song rather than the original or the more familiar Eric Clapton rendition of Cale’s tune, the Biscuits do add their signature jamtronica spin to “After Midnight.” It may not be untz-d out, but bassist Marc Brownstein and drummer Allen Aucoin connect on a meaty funk groove while guitarist Jon “Barber” Gutwillig solos over top and keyboardist Aron Magner adds subtle organ blasts to the mix before taking a powerful Hammond solo of his own.
