Courtney Barnett Performs Gillian Welch Cover For ‘The Tonight Show’

Last week, Courtney Barnett was the musical guest on an installment of NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. While Barnett performed “Nameless, Faceless” off her new album Tell Me How You Really Feel for last Thursday’s episode, she also laid down a Gillian Welch cover that was shared today on The Tonight Show’s YouTube channel.

Courtney Barnett tackled Welch’s “Everything Is Free” for The Tonight Show’s “Cover Room” video series. Barnett went solo acoustic for her take on the beautiful song off Gillian’s 2001 album Time (The Revelator). The Australian-bred guitarist performed Time (The Revelator) track “Elvis Presley Blues” a number of times with Kurt Vile last year. In addition, Vile and Barnett picked Welch’s “Look At Miss Ohio” as one of their favorite songs during a “Guest DJs” spot with NPR Music’s Bob Boilen in 2017.
