Over the last 15 years Conscious Alliance has progressed from a grassroots hunger relief effort spearheaded by young music fans hosting food drives at concerts in Colorado to a national nonprofit organization providing over 100,000 hours worth of empowering volunteer opportunities for youth across the country. Conscious Alliance has over 50 Art That Feeds Food Drives already on the books for this year including for concerts by Widespread Panic at Red Rocks, Jack Johnson’s visit to Fiddler’s Green and such popular festivals as Electric Forest and Lockn’.

Fans who donate to Conscious Alliance help provide emergency food to over 30 Feeding America food banks nationwide. The organization’s efforts are particularly important during the summer, which is a particularly challenging time for food banks as kids don’t have access to school breakfast and lunch. Conscious Alliance plays a critical role in redirecting the abundance of food from the engaged music scene and activating multiple generations to give, ensuring that food pantries can continue to meet their needs within their community.

“It has been an exciting and impactful start to our summer concert season,” said Justin Levy, Executive Director of Conscious Alliance. “Since May, our volunteers have donated over 400 hours of time at our Art That Feeds Food Drives at 12 concerts and festivals, collecting 6,400 meals for communities in need. The generosity that exists within the music community is unmatched.”

Conscious Alliance is also giving music fans a chance to receive a limited edition event poster for making a suggested donation. These posters are created by such acclaimed artists as Dave Hale, Jeff Wood, Rox Marx and Phil Lewis. “The posters are a reminder of that event; a reminder of the concert and that time that you shared with the community,” said poster artist Phil Lewis. “As you look at it, those memories come pouring back and it’s a constant reminder that you took action and helped provide food for those in need.”

As reported, Conscious Alliance also has a pair of flagship fundraising events on the books: An Evening with Joel Cummins of Umphrey’s McGee on June 29 and An Evening In Support of Conscious Alliance Hosted by the Macmillan Family on July 16. A full list of upcoming events hosting food drives can be viewed here. Most needed items include: canned soups and stews, pasta, rice, canned fruits and vegetables, tuna, oatmeal, whole grain/low sugar cereal, peanut butter, beans and baby food. Conscious Alliance always encourages food donations to be low-sodium and health oriented products; organic food donations are especially encouraged.
