Chris Thile performed a cover of Reverend Gary Davis’ “Samson & Delilah” for the New York Guitar Festival. Thile is the latest contributor to “Set 2” of the NYGF’s Reverend Gary Davis: In Search Of The Harlem Street Singer series.

Davis popularized the song based on the biblical tale and it was his version that inspired Bob Weir to bring the song to the Grateful Dead. “Samson & Delilah” was performed regularly by the Dead following its debut in 1976.
