Chris Thile & Merrill Garbus Cover ‘The Sidewalks Of New York’

Punch Brothers’ Chris Thile and Tune-Yards’ Merrill Garbus were brought together by Paste Magazine to record a song together. Paste shared video documenting the collaboration on the classic tune “The Sidewalks Of New York.”
Vaudeville actor Charles Lawlor and James Blake wrote “The Sidewalks Of New York” in 1894. The song was recorded by Thile and Garbus during a four-hour session utilizing the Spire Studio portable recording device. Watch the results and a “making of” video below:
