Earlier this year Chris Robinson played his first ever series of solo shows that were well received enough that the former Black Crowes and current Chris Robinson Brotherhood frontman repeated the feat. Robinson performed a rare solo acoustic set at Monterey’s Golden State Theatre on Saturday night and was joined by members of Vetiver for the encore.

Saturday’s concert started with a set from Vetiver’s Andy Cabic and Jeremy Harris. Robinson then took the stage for a performance that began with Black Crowes gems “Hotel Illness,” “Oh Josephine” and “Last Place That Love Lives.” Chris continued on with “Sunday Sound” from his New Earth Mud days and the recent CRB tracks “Hark, The Herald Hermit Speaks,” “If You Had A Heart To Break” and “She Shares My Blanket.”

More Black Crowes numbers were in store including “Locust Street,” “Appaloosa,” “Good Friday” and “Jealous Again.” The show then concluded with Cabic and Harris joining Robinson for covers of Velvet Underground’s “Femme Fatale” and Flatts & Scruggs’ “Rock, Salt & Nails.” Next up for The CRB is a set a Hangtown Music Festival on October 27.
