Chris Forsyth and Garcia Peoples announced a new live album, Peoples Motel Band, due out on March 20. The record is available via Forsyth’s Bandcamp account.
Recorded on September 14, 2019 at Johnny Brenda’s in Forsyth’s native Philadelphia, the exploratory set sees Forsyth and Garcia Peoples building on the improvisational chemistry they found playing together during Forsyth’s month-long weekly residency at Nublu in New York City. Bringing that chemistry to Johnny Brenda’s, Peoples Motel Band — featuring Forsyth on guitar and vocals along with guitarists Tom Malach and Danny Arakaki, bassist Peter Kerlin, keyboardist Pat Gubler, drummer Cesar Arakaki and percussionist Ryan Jewell — clocks just four songs with side two featuring a deep dive into the title track of Forsyth’s 2017 album, Dreaming The Non-Dream.
Forsyth enlisted the help of longtime collaborator Jeff Ziegler to record and mix the set with producing duties going to Brucie Millions and mastering by James Plotkin. Head here to pre-order Peoples Motel Band.
