Cate Le Bon will issue her seventh album, Michelangelo Dying, on September 26 through Mexican Summer. The singer-songwriter shared the pending album’s single “Heaven Is No Feeling” and confirmed tour dates supporting its release

Michelangelo Dying came together in various recording spaces around the world. The Welsh musician worked in Cardiff, as well as the Grecian island Hydra, London and Los Angeles. The album was finalized in the California desert. The follow-up to 2019’s Reward and 2022’s Pompeii was co-produced by Le Bon and Samur Khouja.

“There’s this idea that you could do everything yourself, but the value of having someone you completely trust, as I do Samur, be your co-pilot allows you to get completely lost knowing you’ll get pulled back in at the right moment,” Le Bon revealed. “We have come to quietly move as one in the studio.”

Le Bon is joined on Michelangelo by pianist Paul Jones, drummer Dylan Hadley and drummer/percussionist Valentina Magaletti. The Velvet Underground’s John Cale appears on the track “Ride.” Le Bon’s longtime collaborator, saxophonist Euan Hinshelwood, prominently contributed throughout as well.

“Over the years of working together, Euan has uncoupled his playing from the traditional to house the emotional frequency I have asked of him,” Le Bon shared. “On this record especially, it’s the voice that takes over when words are too concrete for the feeling.”
