Bruce Springsteen Speaks Up Against ‘Muslim Ban’ At Adelaide Concert
By Scott Bernstein Jan 30, 2017 • 9:19 am PST

On Monday night Bruce Springsteen brought the E Street Band’s current tour down under to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, Australia. Springsteen used an opportunity before the evening’s second song to voice support for the opposition to President Trump’s so-called “Muslim Ban” ahead of the tour debut of an “immigrant song.”
The Boss and his band kicked off their 27-song performance with a “New York City Serenade” featuring a string section. Springsteen then took to the mic to say, “tonight we want to add our voices to the thousands of Americans who are protesting at airports around our country.” He later added, “America is a nation of immigrants and we find this anti-democratic and fundamentally un-American.” Bruce and his band then struck up the tour debut of “American Land.”
Watch The Boss’s speech ahead of “American Land” at Monday’s show in Adelaide:
Springsteen and his band played a number of songs referencing the situation back home including “Land Of Hopes & Dreams” and “Trapped.” Joining “American Land” and “Trapped” among tour debuts were “Something In The Night,” “Brown Eyed Girl,” “Racing In The Street” and “If I Should Fall Behind.” The group was joined by former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora for “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” and “Shout” towards the end of the evening.
