Bruce Springsteen Releases Historic Live Recording

Bruce Springsteen fans waited a long time for The Boss to start rolling out live recordings from his massive archive. Thankfully, now that Springsteen has launched a series of live archival recordings he’s been releasing shows at a steady clip including the just-announced Meadowlands 1984.

Meadowlands 1984 features the full Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band performance from August 5, 1984 at Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The new release is notable as the first complete recording officially released from Springsteen’s historic Born In The U.S.A. Tour. Bruce had changed up the lineup for his group in advance of the tour by adding Nils Lofgren on guitar (Stevie Van Zandt had left the band) and Patti Scialfa on vocals and percussion. The high quality recordings of the 8/5/84 show prompted Team Springsteen to offer Meadowlands 1984 in DSD, an additional high resolution format that’s 64 times the resolution of a standard CD. The show is also available as a 3 CD set and downloadable in MP3, FLAC, and HD audio formats.

The Boss and band’s August 5, 1984 performance in New Jersey was the first night of a ten-show stand at the Brendan Byrne Arena. Springsteen’s setlist from the evening contains plenty of songs from Born In The U.S.A. as well as classics from throughout the start of his career. Fittingly, the show featured the tour debut of “Jersey Girl.”
