British Sea Power Release Free Mp3, Announce Summer Tour Dates
BSP Remix Manic Street Preachers

British Sea Power
Following a rapturously-received and sold-out live performance to the film Man Of Aran at London’s BFI, British Sea Power are making a track from their Man Of Aran soundtrack available as a free download. British Sea Power’s all-new score to the 1934 film will be available on DVD/CD from 18 May. The track “Come Wander With Me” is now available as a free download here.

Man Of Aran is available on DVD with the new BSP soundtrack. The BSP Man Of Aran package includes two discs – the re-scored Man Of Aran DVD, plus the soundtrack by itself on CD. The band will reprise their Man Of Aran performance at The Big Chill Festival on August 6.

“It’s a wonderful film,” says BSP guitarist Noble. “The images vary between huge drama and a brilliant kind of ridiculousness – check out the amazing foot-wide bobbled berets that the fishermen wear. It’s a great look, like a 1930s Irish version of Jack White or Kraftwerk. It’s a film that’s also relevant to the current era – a time when the idea of living a simpler life is in the air. The film shows something I’d like to think I could do, but know I never will.”

Man Of Aran is a powerful and provocative dramatized documentary from the late American filmmaker Robert J Flaherty. In a series of startling black-and-white sequences the film presents daily life on the inhospitable Aran islands on the west coast of Ireland. The film was both celebrated and controversial on its release.

BSP have also remixed a track for the Manic Street Preachers. The track is “Me And Stephen Hawking,” from the Manics’ forthcoming album, Journal For Plague Lovers. BSP, of course, hope Mr. Hawking continues to recover from his recent health scare.
