Brandi Carlile returned to 30 Rockefeller Center in New York City to appear as musical guest on last weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live. Carlile was joined by Lucius for “You and Me On The Rock” and also performed her favorite “The Story.”

Carlile made her SNL debut in October 2021. Co-host Steve Martin introduced Carlile’s initial performance, which was the aforementioned “You And Me On The Rock.” The track appeared on Carlile’s Grammy-nominated album, In These Silent Days, which also featured vocalists Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe of Lucius. The song is currently nominated for Grammys in the Best Americana Performance and Best Americana Song categories.

Later in the episode, co-host Martin Short introduced Carlile’s second performance. Backed by her bandmates The Twins: bassist Phil Hanseroth and guitarist Tim Hanseroth, and a strings section, Carlile delivered a powerful rendition of “The Story.” The song served as the title track to Carlile’s sophomore album, which was produced by T Bone Burnett and released in 2007.
