Bon Iver presented a guest-filled set during the Saturday of the second weekend of Coachella on this date in 2017. Bruce Hornsby, Jenny Lewis and Sylvan Esso‘s Amelia Meath were among the band’s guests at Empire Polo Club in Indio, California for their second of two Coachella 2017 performances.
Led by Justin Vernon, the group went heavy on material from their most recent album at the time, 22, A Million. Six songs from the 2016 LP were featured in the 11-song set. “Michicant” from Bon Iver, Bon Iver came after three 22, A Million tunes to start the performance. NAO sat-in on “Michicant” before it was back to 22, A Million for “666 ʇ” and “8 (Circle).”

The classic “Skinny Love” was followed by the tour debut of “Flume” featuring Meath. “21 M♢♢N WATER” came next before Jenny Lewis and Bruce Hornsby emerged for “The End Of The Innocence.” Hornsby wrote “The End Of The Innocence” with Don Henley, who used the song as the title track for his 1989 solo album. Francis & The Lights, NAO and Meath then helped Bon Iver end the set with “Friends,” a collaboration between the former and the latter.
