Watch Bob Weir Join Nathaniel Ratelifff & The Nightsweats For 4-Song Encore In Menlo Park

Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats came to Menlo Park, California’s intimate Guild Theatre on Thursday. Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir joined Rateliff and company for the 4-song encore at the 500-capacity venue. The show also helped to raise over $250,000 for Rateliff’s Marigold Project “dedicated to economic, racial and social justice.”

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats kicked off the concert with “Look It Here” from their 2015 breakout self-titled debut album. Next came “You Worry Me” from 2018’s Tearing At The Seams. The band would dip heavily from their sophomore LP with six additional songs from the album including favorites like “A Little Honey” and “Hey Mama.” Following the latter came “Coolin’ Out” and early hits “I Need Never Get Old” and “S.O.B” Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats’ latest full-length, 2021’s The Future, also made a good showing at five cuts including “Survivor” and set closer “Love Don’t.”

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats then welcomed Bob Weir to begin the encore with the classic Grateful Dead-covered cowboy tune “Me & My Uncle” with Bobby leading the way. “Since this is a special night for us, we’ve got a few more songs to do with Bob here,” Rateliff said after introducing the legendary Bay Area musician.

Weir and Rateliff then swapped verses and teamed up on the chorus for the scathing seven-stanza “Slow Train” by Bob Dylan. Bobby and Nathaniel would share vocals duties once again on The Band classic “The Shape I’m In,” with Weir also adding some slide guitar stylings. Nathaniel Ratliff & The Night Sweats then helped Bobby bring the house down on a sizzling, 12-minute “The Other One” to cap off the evening.
