Watch Bob Weir, Billy Strings & Margo Price Perform ‘Stay A Little Longer’ At Willie Nelson’s 90th Birthday Celebration

On Saturday, April 29, outlaw country legend Willie Nelson celebrated his 90th birthday with the first of two all-star concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. One of the collaborations at Sunday’s Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90 event was a performance of “Stay A Little Longer” featuring Bob Weir, Billy Strings and Margo Price.

Sunday’s all-star show began with Strings delivering a performance of Nelson’s classic “Whiskey River.” Strings later accompanied Nelson on the live debut of their joint song, “California Sober,” which was released last Friday. Price’s participation on Sunday included a performance of Billy Joe Shaver’s “Georgia on a Fast Train” with Waylon Payne.

Weir’s Wolf Bros bandmates, bassist Don Was and pedal steel guitarist Greg Leisz, were part of the weekend’s house band that also included keyboardist Benmont Tench and others.

“Stay A Little Longer” was first released in 1946 by Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys. Wills wrote the song with Tommy Duncan, who was a member of the influential Texas swing group. Nelson’s version, “Stay All Night (Stay A Little Longer),” was recorded for his 1973 album, Shotgun Willie. Released as one of the album’s singles, it was a Top 25 hit for Nelson.
