Billy Strings Performs ‘Katy Daly’ For ‘String The Halls’

Billy Strings keeps his String The Halls: Home For The Holidays Edition video series going with “Katy Daly,” a song also known as “Katy Daley.” Strings is backed by his band of bassist Royal Masat, banjo player Billy Failing and mandolinist Jarrod Walker for today’s video as he has been for all nine installments of the series thus far.
While Billy credits “Katy Daly” as a The Stanley Brothers song, it was originally written by Herman Weight, who went by the penname of Eamon O’Shea according to Clinch Mountain Echo. Strings and his band have performed “Katy Daly” 18 times since 2016 as per Phantasy Tour.

String The Halls: Home For The Holidays Edition runs through this Friday, Christmas Day. At that point, audio of all 12 performances will be available via nugs.net. Money raised from the series will be split among Nashville Rescue Mission, Musically Fed and Second Harvest Food Bank Of Middle Tennessee.
