Billy Joel Covers AC/DC With Jim Breuer At Madison Square Garden

In 2014, Billy Joel began a monthly residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City for which there is no end in sight. Joel played the 50th show of the residency on Wednesday night. The concert featured another MSG icon honoring Billy and comedian Jim Breuer showing off his vocal prowess on an AC/DC cover.

The Piano Man kicked off the concert with hits “Miami 2017 (Seen The Lights Go Out On Broadway)” and “My Life.” Joel then welcomed Hockey Hall Of Famer and New York Rangers icon Mark Messier. Mark gave a speech saluting Billy on his unprecedented run and then a banner in honor of the 50th show of the run was raised into MSG’s rafters.

Billy Joel gave fans a chance to vote with their applause on certain song selections and “She’s Got A Way,” “All About Soul,” “The Entertainer,” “The Longest Time” and “Don’t Ask Me Why” were among the winners on Wednesday. The pianist brought out Brewer towards the middle of the set and the former Saturday Night Live star sang a cover of AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long” that featured Billy on guitar.

The 68-year-old performer went on to end his 22-song main set with beloved favorites “Scenes From An Italian Restaurant” and “Piano Man.” For the encore, Joel led his band through a string of six hits including “Uptown Girl,” “It’s Still Rock & Roll To Me” and “You May Be Right.”
