Billy and his band played a mix of Grateful Dead classics, reggae tunes and other gems last night according to Deadheadland. Lebo handled vocals for the evening with Joseph chipping in to sing “Morning Dew.” Bob Dylan’s “It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Try To Cry” kicked off a first set that ended with the inventive “Scarlet Begonias” > “Fire On The Bayou” pairing. The second set started with a fan-favorite Jerry Garcia Band sequence of JJ Cale’s “After Midnight” featuring an instrumental take on The Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby” in the middle. With the curfew approaching, the band didn’t leave the stage before treating fans to an “Iko Iko” encore. Kreutzmann and Co. return to the Mystic Theatre tonight for the second and final “A Night Of Voodoo.”
